About Me

This past May I added Bachelor of Arts in art and psychology to my resume after graduating from Luther College. In the art world I have a focuses in printmaking and oil painting. Being a queer person, I love showing my experiences through my work. My most recent printmaking series is on intimacy and how we show/develop it in this digital age.

Current artist statement:

This series of linocut prints explores the concept of queer intimacy. Intimacy is deeply individual; the lack of a fixed definition and the way my personal understanding shifts with each new piece keeps the process dynamic and compelling.  I currently define intimacy as the trust it takes to share your mind, body or soul with another person.  Queer identity makes this exploration even more nuanced, as the lines between platonic and romantic intimacy often blur. Dating apps and social media creates a fast paced world where we are subconsciously comparing ourselves and our romantic relationships to others. This creates unrealistic standards and the potential for an abundance of shallow interactions and fuels hookup culture rather than nurturing deeper, lasting relationships.

This work takes intimate moments and slows them down through methodical line work, stepping away from the fast paced worlds of modern intimacy. I beg the question: what does it mean to know and truly be known by someone and how are these relationships changed with technology of today?

Current Project:

I’ve been busy dreaming of the sights in Norway as I paint this mural in the Landing Market in Decorah Iowa!

FAQ

  • I always start with a free consultation for my commission projects. In this we will talk about what you’re envisioning, the medium, and timeframe you’re looking for. I can usually give a rough estimate of what the cost will be in that first session.

  • Pricing is based on both the project's scope and your desired timeline. (I promise fair rates and will always require your approval before we begin).

  • Timelines depend on the project, but I generally dedicate up to a month to each client, with the possibility of an extension based on my availability.
